Questions
About WAV to MP3
What bitrate does Wemute use?
LAME VBR quality 2, which averages about 170–210 kbps. It's the setting audio engineers commonly recommend as transparent for most music.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Wemute converts files inside your browser tab with your device's own processor. The file contents and names never reach our servers, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no upload limit because nothing is uploaded, but your browser's memory sets a practical ceiling: files up to about 2 GB work on most computers. The first conversion downloads the converter engine (about 10 MB) once; after that it is cached.
