Questions

About WebM to MP4

Why don't some apps open WebM?

WebM uses Google's VP8/VP9 codecs, which Apple devices and many editors don't support natively. MP4 with H.264 is the universal alternative.

Why is video slower than a desktop app?

Browser video encoding runs on the CPU without hardware acceleration. Wemute avoids re-encoding whenever the video stream can simply be moved into the new container, which makes most MOV and MKV to MP4 jobs finish in seconds.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Wemute converts files inside your browser tab with your device's own processor. The file contents and names never reach our servers, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
